    Name: João Seabra

New title: President and head of the Americas, Siemens Healthineers

Previous title: Head of enterprise services, Siemens Healthineers

Siemens Healthineers said Thursday it has appointed João Seabra as president and head of the Americas, following the leadership overhaul that the company began in May.

Seabra joined Siemens Healthineers in 2001. From 2015 to 2018, Seabra led the company’s operations in Western Europe and West Africa. The executive became head of enterprise services in 2018, where he has scaled the business and quadrupled its revenue, leading to his promotion to a leadership role in Siemens Healthineers’ largest market.

Under Seabra’s leadership, Siemens Healthineers created “value partnerships of increasing scope and impact with key customers,” Darleen Caron, the company’s chief human resources officer, said in a statement.

Currently based in Portugal, Seabra is relocating to the U.S. to take up his new job. Effective Oct. 1, Seabra will replace John Kowal in the role. Kowal, previously president of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers’ Varian unit, took up the position in April 2025 to fill a vacancy created when David Pacitti left to run Avanos.

In its statement about Seabra’s appointment, Siemens Healthineers thanked Kowal for his “many years of successful service.” In a LinkedIn post, Kowal said he was stepping down and, in the short term, would spend time on “personal passions.”

Seabra’s appointment is the latest in a flurry of leadership changes at the company. In May, Siemens Healthineers disclosed a “comprehensive generational change” in its leadership team. The changes saw the company install new leaders in diagnostic imaging, advanced therapies and the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region, as well as a new chief technology officer.

The May leadership overhaul coincided with news that Siemens Healthineers is preparing to carve out its diagnostics business. The diagnostics unit struggled again in Siemens Healthineers’ third-quarter results, which the company reported Friday. On a conference call with analysts, CEO Bernhard Montag attributed falling sales in part to structural changes in the China market.

Siemens Healthineers expects diagnostic sales to fall again in the fourth quarter, CFO Jochen Schmitz said on the call. The forecast led the company to lower both ends of its full-year revenue outlook range by one percentage point, cutting the expected growth rate to between 3.5% and 4%.
