Boston Scientific on Wednesday disclosed a cyberattack that has affected the company’s ability to process and ship customers’ orders.

Boston Scientific was hit by an attack that affected certain information technology systems, resulting in a global disruption to its operations, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The medical device maker identified the attack on Tuesday.

The attack has caused disruptions to the company’s information systems and business applications that support operations, including the ability to process and ship orders. The disruption is expected to continue, though Boston Scientific did not disclose for how long.

“While the Company is working diligently to restore affected functions and systems access, the timeline for a full restoration is not yet known,” Boston Scientific said in the filing. The company said in a statement posted to its website on Wednesday that the attack resulted in a network outage, along with a disruption to its operations.

Boston Scientific has not yet determined whether the incident will have a material impact.

The company’s shares dropped by nearly 6% to $47.09 in premarket training, and were down by more than 4% after the market opened.

Boston Scientific is the latest in what is becoming a long list of medical device companies to have reported a cyberattack in recent months, including Medtronic, Abbott and Intuitive.

While most companies have not reported any impact on operations, Stryker suffered an attack in March that affected its ordering and shipping operations, much like Boston Scientific. Stryker’s cyberattack shut down the company’s ordering, shipping and manufacturing capabilities for weeks and cut into its first-quarter results. The company is still recovering from the effects of the attack.

Stifel analysts said there is little clarity in the filing on the exact impact to operations and the company’s guidance or outlook. However, the cyberattack does add uncertainty into what has already been a challenging year for the firm.

“From our perspective, it is still too early to know how Boston will approach communicating these issues and incorporating any potential impact,” the analysts wrote. “But, we must acknowledge that there is now increased uncertainty regarding our 2026 revenue, margin, and [earnings per share] outlook.”

Upon detection of the attack, Boston Scientific activated its response protocols and began an investigation with third-party cybersecurity experts to assess and contain the threat.

“The Company’s investigation of the cybersecurity incident is ongoing, and the full scope, nature and impacts, including operational and financial impacts, of the incident are not yet known,” Boston Scientific said in the filing
