    • The Runna app is being integrated into Amazfit watches
    • Amazfit’s Zepp app also has a fresh design and a new badge system
    • The changes are coming to the Amazfit Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro for now

Despite not being the biggest name in the game, Amazfit makes some of the best budget running watches on the market – and if you’ve been thinking of picking one up, now is a good time, as the brand has just seen two updates that help make it an even better choice for budget-conscious fitness fans.

The first is that the popular Runna app has just added support for Amazfit watches. Runna is one of the best fitness apps around, with impressive analysis tools and a great community to join, so getting it on your Amazfit watch is a significant boost.

Specifically, the partnership between the two firms means users will be able to sync workouts from Runna to the Zepp app on their Amazfit watch, then send completed activities back to Runna, meaning the link-up works in both directions. The integration is rolling out with the Amazfit Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro devices, but other products are expected to gain support in the future.

That’s not the only improvement coming to Amazfit watches, as the company has also announced that its Zepp app is getting a major facelift thanks to a refreshed interface and a new badge system that’s designed to keep you on track with your health and fitness goals.

The changes come in version 10 of the Zepp app, which is available on iOS. There, users have noticed a new interface has been implemented, with a reorganized home screen, plus more distinct sections for your activities, metrics, training plans and more. The design refresh also sees a wider range of colors in use, as well as a more modern look and feel for the app.

Aside from the freshened-up interface, the Zepp app has a new Badges tab that aims to introduce an element of gamification to your fitness. Badges are awarded for hitting personal bests, long-term goals, achievements and challenges, while you can also see badges that you haven’t yet unlocked. The goal seems to be to reward you for staying active and to encourage you to continue your fitness progress over time.

With these two big changes – the Runna integration and the Zepp app’s new design – Amazfit users have received a couple of welcome features that should help improve their experience. And with Runna saying that it’s “actively working with Amazfit to extend workout syncing to other devices,” there could be further changes on the way.
