What You Should Know:
– GE HealthCare and UC San Diego Health today announced a strategic enterprise collaboration, dubbed a “Care Alliance,” focused on integrating advanced digital innovation and medical technologies across the San Diego health system.
– The partnership is designed to deliver high-quality, timely, and consistent care, aiming for improved patient outcomes and greater cross-functional connectivity.
Care Alliance Value-Based Delivery Framework
The Care Alliance centers on a value-based delivery framework, driven by the goal of system-wide efficiency and increased access to innovative technology for clinicians. The collaboration is anchored in three key pillars:
- Service Line Excellence: This pillar focuses on leveraging innovative imaging solutions and novel therapies, such as theranostics, to advance the cancer care journey from early detection to effective treatment and enhanced monitoring.
- AI and Digital Solutions: A core focus is applying artificial intelligence and digital tools to drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence in care delivery.
- Optimized Technology Program: This includes a customized model and a technical services support program designed to provide advanced education, ensuring clinicians have the expertise needed to deliver exceptional care.
Integrating Next-Generation Imaging and Theranostics
Through the joint effort, a comprehensive suite of innovative imaging systems will be integrated across facilities and clinical teams. These technologies include X-ray, CT, PET/CT, PET/MR, SPECT/CT, MRI, image guided systems, and nuclear medicine.
GE HealthCare solutions to be implemented include the StarGuide™ SPECT/CT, Smart Subscription for CT, and the SIGNA Continuum™ program for MR. Crucially, the integration of imaging technology is intended to help pioneer theranostics, a precise approach that combines diagnostics and therapeutics, particularly for treating cancer.
Augmented Service Delivery for Operational Efficiency
To ensure the new technologies maintain maximum uptime and efficiency, the collaboration includes an augmented service delivery model.
- Preventative Maintenance: The model includes service experts and field engineers who will help support preventative maintenance for connected equipment.
- Reduced Downtime: The goal is to reduce equipment downtime and complexity, as well as improve efficiency and issue resolution speed.
“This Care Alliance was designed to standardize future-focused technology with the goal of measurable improvements in patient outcomes,” stated Catherine Estrampes, president and CEO, U.S. and Canada at GE HealthCare. “This value-based delivery framework is driven by system-wide efficiency that can help increase access to innovative technology for clinicians and individualized care for patients.
