Cerebral Acquires Cognitive Behavioral Therapy App Inflow to Expand ADHD Treatment

    What You Should Know

    • The Acquisition: Cerebral, a massive integrated mental healthcare provider, has officially acquired Inflow, a personalized ADHD digital therapeutic app. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
    • The Acquiree: Inflow is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles. It provides users with short, science-based daily modules to help them build habits, manage symptoms, and develop coping skills for adult ADHD.
    • The Market Demand: According to the CDC, adult ADHD prevalence has risen from roughly 4.4% to 6.0% as of 2023. Crucially, approximately 36.5% of adults diagnosed with ADHD in the U.S. receive no formal treatment, highlighting a massive gap in care.
    • The Clinical Evidence: Inflow isn’t just a basic wellness app; it is backed by peer-reviewed studies. An 8-week randomized controlled trial demonstrated that Inflow users showed significant improvements in ADHD symptoms and overall quality of life.
    • The Integration Strategy: While both companies will continue to operate as separate platforms, the acquisition creates a seamless patient funnel. Inflow members seeking deeper clinical support will now have fast-tracked, readily accessible appointments with Cerebral therapists and psychiatrists.

    The CBT Engine

The clinical logic behind acquiring Inflow is sound. Adult ADHD is currently experiencing a massive diagnostic boom—prevalence hit 6.0% in 2023 according to the CDC—yet over a third of those diagnosed receive zero formal treatment.

While medication management is often a critical component of ADHD care, pills do not teach skills. Inflow fills this gap by delivering science-based, interactive micro-lessons designed to build awareness and change daily habits. Backed by an 8-week randomized controlled trial showing significant symptom improvement, Inflow gives patients a continuous, daily touchpoint to manage their executive dysfunction.

“This partnership allows us to leverage our personalized approach, while benefiting from Cerebral’s clinical rigor, proven Resilience Methodology, and scale,” said Levi Epstein, CEO and Co-Founder of Inflow.

    The Acquisition Funnel

From a purely strategic business perspective, this acquisition creates a highly efficient, bidirectional patient funnel. Both companies will technically continue to operate as separate platforms. However, Cerebral has stated that its clinicians will now be more readily accessible to any Inflow member seeking formal therapy, complete with quick appointment turnarounds.

This means Inflow acts as a low-friction, top-of-funnel entry point. A consumer might download Inflow to help manage their daily schedule. As their relationship with the app deepens and they realize they need a formal diagnosis, medication, or live therapy, Cerebral is waiting right there to catch the referral natively. Conversely, existing Cerebral patients can be “prescribed” Inflow to keep them engaged and continuously improving between their costly clinical visits, lowering the total cost of care.
