If Father’s Day gift ideas are at the front of your mind (as a gentle reminder, it’s coming up fast on Sunday, September 7), Samsung Australia’s unlocked a bevy of new deals that cater to all kinds of dad-oriented interests. That includes incredible discounts like AU$400 off Galaxy S25 phones, 39% off select 4K TVs and AU$500 off select gaming monitors – there’s basically something for every dad.

For fitness-oriented dads, however, two deals on the new Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic smartwatches are arguably the best of the bunch. Offering a significant AU$100 and AU$150 off each smartwatch respectively, but when you check out, the savings get even better with the use of the coupon code LIVEWATCH20 to save a further 10%.

Samsung is a TechRadar preferred partner (What does this mean?)

While some people might prefer the slimmer frame of the Galaxy Watch 8 – which you can also save 10% on with the LIVEWATCH20 code – we think the Watch 8 Classic’s Quick Button makes up for the extra millimetres, as it lets you quickly start functions like your most-used workout or opening up your music controls. It also boasts a rotating bezel (something the Ultra doesn’t have) that allows you bypass the touchscreen for scrolling and swiping through menus.

It sounds like there’s not much to really split the two, but the Ultra still offers some key features that help it earn that moniker. It has a larger, brighter screen, a higher battery capacity and better speakers, on top of a titanium body, the ability to handle water at greater depths and 4G connectivity.

That said, the smorgasbord of fitness-tracking features boasted by the Ultra are also available on the 8 Classic. If health and fitness are at the top of your priorities, both excel as holistic health coaches with Bedtime Guidance, customisable programs and deep insights through Samsung’s advanced wellness coaching.

Ultimately, choosing between the two will come down to style, what environments they’ll be used in, and what type of activities you want to track. These are undeniably two of the best Samsung smartwatches available, with the Watch 8 Classic blending style and substance, while the Watch Ultra is its bigger, tougher, adventure-ready sibling.

With these significant discounts, now is a great opportunity to find the Galaxy Watch that best fits your dad – and your budget – just in time for Father’s Day.
