When it comes to understanding your health and fitness, a smart scale can be a useful weapon in your arsenal. Right now, our pick for the best smart scale is the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2, but smart home firm Wyze is hoping to knock it off its perch with its latest effort.
That product is the Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan. This set of scales boasts “professional-grade body composition analysis,” Wyze claims, and sits at the top end of its range of smart body scales, alongside the likes of the Withings Body Scan.
The big addition this time is a built-in handle that’s attached to the scale using an extendable cord (something it shares with the Body Scan). This comes equipped with a set of electrodes that pair up with electrodes in the scale itself (making eight in total), and together these are used to measure your wellbeing across a range of metrics. This allows for more accurate data collection than simply gauging inputs from your feet.
Wyze says the handle provides “deeper, segmental insights and more accurate, personalized results” by allowing the scale to measure your arms, legs and torso individually. Instead of an overall idea of your health status, you get a more nuanced picture.
High-end health
Once all that data has been collected and quantified, you’ll be able to view your health insights using the scale’s 4.3-inch color display.
The device rounds up 13 different wellbeing metrics, including weight, body fat percentage, heart rate, lean body mass, and more. There are also ongoing trends to be found if you want to see how you’re doing over time.
And since the product comes with Bluetooth, you can sync all that data to your phone or other connected device and view it there, if you like. It’s compatible with popular fitness apps like Apple Health and Google Fit, and Wyze will send you a PDF report of your latest health metrics for easy consumption, too.
Wyze has priced the Scale Ultra BodyScan at $119.98 (around £90 / AU$185), which is significantly more than its other scales, including the $49.98 Scale Ultra and the $38.98 Scale X.
