    What You Should Know:

    – Xsolis, an AI-driven technology company announced the initial results of its new generative AI (GenAI) solution pilot, which dramatically streamlines medical necessity reviews. Beacon Health System, a not-for-profit health system, piloted the new Xsolis GenAI solution and saw a significant decrease in administrative burden, which helped optimize precious clinical resources and streamline payer interactions.

    – The results from the three-month pilot demonstrate the power of generative AI to address some of the most pressing challenges in the healthcare revenue cycle, including rising denial rates and persistent staffing shortages.

GenAI Pilot Reduction in Adminstrative Burden

The pilot experience at Beacon Health System revealed several key benefits of the Xsolis GenAI medical necessity review tool:

    • A 68% Decrease in Review Time: The average time to complete initial reviews plummeted from 15 minutes per review to just 4.7 minutes. This allows for an increase in daily reviews, faster onboarding of new nurses, and more resilient staffing models.
    • Increased Consistency and Accuracy: The tool drove greater consistency and thoroughness across case management and utilization management teams, improving confidence among nurses and reducing the need for internal peer reviews.
    • Accelerated Payer Approvals: By quickly generating the most essential patient information required for medical necessity reviews, the typical 4- to 5-day health plan approval process was accelerated to as quick as 2-day approvals.
    • Faster, More Accurate Payments: Due to the expedited review and approval process, less rework is required after patient discharge, leading to faster payments. This also helps reduce unnecessary denials and prevents patients from erroneously receiving surprise bills.

Beacon Health System first implemented Xsolis’ AI platform in May 2019 to better manage a high volume of critically ill patients. That initial partnership led to Wagner’s team supporting 140% more patients a day and operational improvements that have resulted in more than $95 million in savings as of early 2025. The new GenAI solution builds on this foundation of success.

“We’re pleased to offer exciting new enhancements to Xsolis’ Dragonfly platform, such as generative AI, so our customers can stay one step ahead in today’s challenging healthcare landscape,” said Joan Butters, CEO and co-founder of Xsolis. “Congratulations to Beacon Health System and its leaders for highlighting how the right tools can enable more efficiency than ever before in healthcare when they are paired with the right people and processes.”
