    What You Should Know:

    – Lumus, the pioneering developer of geometric (reflective) waveguide technology for augmented reality (AR) eyewear, today announced a strategic partnership with health tech innovator Snke.

    – Lumus has been selected as the optical engine partner for the new SnkeXR AR glasses, which are designed specifically for clinical and surgical environments.

    New Era for Medical-Grade AR

The SnkeXR glasses are the first open-platform, medical-grade AR glasses engineered to integrate directly into existing healthcare devices and workflows. They support a wide range of high-precision clinical applications, including:

    • Immersive obstetric imaging
    • Surgical planning and dental implants
    • Interventional cardiology and remote assistance

    Geometric Waveguide Delivers Uncompromising Performance

The foundation of the SnkeXR’s high-performance display is Lumus’ patented geometric waveguide architecture. This technology was deemed essential by Snke to deliver the uncompromising image quality, brightness, and ergonomics required in medical settings.

Lumus’ optical engine provides critical performance specifications necessary for safe and precise work, even under intense surgical lighting:

    • High Resolution: 1440 x 1440 pixels
    • Wide Field of View (FOV): 50°
    • Industry-Leading Brightness: Over 3,000 nits per watt

These features ensure precise anatomical overlays, true color fidelity, and consistent visual clarity, which are non-negotiable in the operating room.

Designed for Day-Long Clinical Comfort and Precision

Beyond raw performance, the design of the SnkeXR glasses prioritizes the comfort of the clinical user. Lumus and its manufacturing partner, Quanta, collaborated with Snke to ensure the position of the lens supports natural posture and extended wear, reducing fatigue during long procedures.

A unique advantage enabled by Lumus’ geometric waveguide design is the approximately 33-degree downward optical tilt. This specific feature allows physicians to maintain image stability and brightness while working over reclined patients, directly preventing neck fatigue.

Ari Grobman, CEO of Lumus, stated: “By leveraging our geometric waveguide architecture, SnkeXR delivers the brightness, resolution, and field of view that physicians need to work safely and precisely – even under the intense lighting of the operating room. These are performance levels other optics solutions simply can’t match”.
