OmicsBank Secures .25M from Redesign Health

    What You Should Know

    • OmicsBank, a clinical data infrastructure company connecting fragmented hospital archives for biopharma and frontier AI developers, raised $2.25M in seed funding from global venture capital and applied technology firm Redesign Health.
    • Founded in 2025 by serial entrepreneurs Sumit Sinha (CEO) and Vijay Goel, the company has deployed its infrastructure inside 90+ hospitals and diagnostic laboratories across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
    • The data network includes standardized, de-identified longitudinal electronic health records (EHR) from 12.5 million patients, 30+ million DICOM radiology images, 6 million pathology slides, and 500,000 whole-genome sequences.
    • Addresses a foundational bias in life sciences and clinical machine learning: South Asia represents nearly 25% of the global population (India alone represents ~20%), yet accounts for 2% or less of participants in global genomic and genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
    • OmicsBank structures data at the source into FHIR and OMOP Common Data Model (CDM) standards across therapeutic areas including oncology, neurology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, immunology, and dermatology.

    Structuring Data at the Source

Rather than trying to build a centralized data dump, OmicsBank deploys its software directly behind hospital firewalls. The platform cleans, indexes, and de-identifies raw records in-situ under local IRB, HIPAA, and GDPR standards before mapping them into standardized OMOP Common Data Model and HL7 FHIR formats.

That pipeline has already aggregated a massive multi-modal footprint:

    • 12.5 million longitudinal patient records
    • 30+ million DICOM imaging files
    • 6 million digitized pathology slides
    • 500,000 genomic and multi-omics profiles (spanning transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics)

For AI developers, OmicsBank packages these records into tokenized datasets and GPU-ready compute environments designed for training and fine-tuning clinical reasoning models. For pharma sponsors, the platform serves as a real-world evidence engine to identify diverse clinical trial cohorts and uncover disease targets across oncology, cardiology, neurology, and metabolic disorders.

    What Leadership Is Saying

“Drug development and healthcare AI are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but the data powering them still represents a relatively narrow slice of the world,” said Sumit Sinha, co-founder and CEO of OmicsBank. “We’ve built the infrastructure to make rich clinical and biological data from Asia and other underrepresented populations available for research, ethically and at scale… As we expand beyond Asia, including the U.S., we see an opportunity to connect that global data foundation with leading health systems, drug developers, and AI companies to build a much richer picture of human health.”

Redesign Health’s Head of Ventures, Neil Patel, pointed to the founders’ operational background as the core driver for the deal: “With OmicsBank, we underwrote Sumit and Vijay first, and the market second. They saw early that the lack of well-structured, representative clinical data was becoming a constraint on drug development and research, and they moved quickly to do something about it. Between them, they have built five companies and know how to operate in exactly the conditions OmicsBank demands, where progress depends on earning the trust of hospitals one institution at a time.”
