    Dive Brief:

    • GE HealthCare is expanding a mammography collaboration with RadNet subsidiary DeepHealth.
    • The partnership brings more of DeepHealth’s artificial intelligence tools to GE HealthCare’s mammography machines, including a workflow for complex cases that may benefit from a secondary review.
    • The companies announced the expanded initiative at the Society of Breast Imaging Annual Symposium on Thursday.

    Dive Insight:

GE HealthCare and DeepHealth began the partnership in 2024. At the time, GE HealthCare said it would combine its Senographe Pristina mammography system with DeepHealth’s breast cancer screening workflow.

Now, the companies are extending the collaboration internationally and offering access to more components of DeepHealth’s solutions. The expanded pact includes GE HealthCare’s Pristina Via mammography system, which the company rolled out in late 2024.

GE HealthCare will be able to offer new applications with its mammography systems, including a feature for cancer detection, automated density assessment, and an AI solution for automatic lesion localization and degree of suspicion. The feature is effective in diverse populations and dense breast tissue, the companies said.

The expanded partnership also includes an optional secondary review workflow for complex cases. In the U.S., a secondary review is not typically required, while many countries in Europe use double reading. The feature, which uses AI to flag potential misses and sends them to an expert for a second review,  is currently only available in the U.S.
