Expanding Same-Day, System-Integrated Care Across the Northeast
Northwell Health—the largest not-for-profit health system in the Northeast and New York State’s biggest private employer—continues to broaden its commitment to accessible, coordinated care. Serving more than three million people each year across New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and western Connecticut, Northwell operates 28 hospitals, over 1,000 outpatient facilities, and a clinical workforce of more than 22,000 nurses and 20,000 physicians. Its ecosystem includes Northwell Health Physician Partners, Nuvance Health Medical Practices, and a 104,000-strong team dedicated to advancing care.

Northwell now introduces Northwell Primary Care Now, a joint venture with K Health designed to bring same-day access to primary care while fully integrating the experience into Northwell’s systemwide infrastructure. “This new joint venture represents a significant step forward in making quality healthcare more accessible to our patients,” said John D’Angelo, CEO of Northwell Health. “By integrating K Health’s AI platform with our existing care services, we’re expanding our ability to deliver comprehensive primary care that meets patients where they are.”
Northwell Primary Care Now allows patients to secure same-day appointments with Northwell clinicians—either virtually or in person—while ensuring every encounter is connected to the patient’s broader Northwell care journey. Before their visit, patients engage with a personalized AI Medical Chat that gathers symptom information, organizes it, and prepares it for the physician. When the clinician enters the encounter, the intake is already complete, enabling a faster, more focused visit.
The platform is explicitly designed to augment—not replace—traditional clinical care. It enhances responsiveness, improves the quality of data gathered before a visit, and strengthens decision-making, all while maintaining a physician-led model. Northwell joins a group of major U.S. health systems—including Cedars-Sinai, Hackensack Meridian Health, Hartford HealthCare, Mass General Brigham, and Mayo Clinic—that have adopted K Health’s technology to modernize access and streamline care delivery.
